Featuring an all-new interface, the new 3D Product Configurator includes expanded formats and capabilities.
Cincinnati OH, August 14, 2013 – Smalley Steel Ring Company, the world leader in Spirolox Retaining Rings, Constant Section Rings and Wave Springs, and CADENAS PARTsolutions, experts in 3D product configurators and electronic catalog technology, announce the release of Smalley’s new embedded online product configurator. The new configurator adds multiple new capabilities to Smalley’s website, enabling users to configure parts directly within the product page, instantly insert the configured part into a CAD environment and generate PDF Data Sheets for purchasing departments and off-line use.
Smalley Steel Ring Company is known for their innovative, space-saving spring designs which have similar properties as those with twice the height. Smalley is also known for economical and environmentally friendly constant section rings and Spirolox Retaining rings, which are produced using methods which produce no scrap.
In addition to delivering innovative manufacturing component products, Smalley is constantly looking to improve their customer service, user experience and product delivery procedures. The new 3D configurator is part of their continuous improvement initiative to ensure they are meeting the demands and expectations of engineers.
“By embedding the configurator into the website, we are able to better serve our customers, giving them what they need more quickly and with added functionality,” says Lane Persky, Marketing Manager at Smalley. “Our users now have the ability configure and view their 3D part within the Smalley web page, then instantly generate a native CAD model in every major format. What’s even cooler is the new PART2cad feature which enables customers to insert the configured model directly into an open CAD session, instantly. It’s all about making engineers’ jobs easier through technology.”
In addition to the PART2cad feature, Smalley has enabled their configurator to generate 3D PDF Data Sheets, which are portable and printable documents containing a 3D model as well as all of the critical part information.
“Purchasing departments don’t often have access to CAD systems or detailed product data,” adds Tim Thomas, CEO of CADENAS PARTsolutions, “By enabling 3D PDF’s to be generated from the configurator, engineers can quickly deliver detailed product information to purchasing in a format they can easily understand and use. This promotes order accuracy and ensures engineers get the exact products they need. Smalley gets increased volume of downloads, more sales and happier customers.”
