Say hello to our helpful Technical Consultant, Dan Koivisto!
Dan is a busy guy – when he’s not taking care of the customer needs of our PARTsolutions customers, he’s working on a home project, hanging out with his wife and four children, or plowing the snow. He recently finished building his own house, which he spent at least 3,000 hours working on (no easy feat, when you consider Dan’s town in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula can see an average 15-20 feet of snow each year!). Dan came down to our headquarters in Cincinnati recently, and we had the chance to ask him share more about himself and his busy life.
Tell us about your role at CADENAS PARTsolutions?
I am a Technical Consultant, and I handle project management items for many customers and projects at PARTsolutions. I work daily with our customers, sales team and modeling team. I’ve worked here for nine years in January (2018).
What are some of the day to day challenges of your job?
Keeping track of everything in an organized fashion. There are always a lot of moving pieces on projects, so keeping everything organized it really important to the work I do.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I love the variety of work I see with my job. I get to interact with a diverse group of customers and an array of projects. Each project is different, and I enjoy seeing and working in all the different stages of a project.
Where did you grow up / go to school?
I am originally from Minnesota, but now I live in Calumet, in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. My town used to be a big copper mining area where we can see more than 200 inches of snow each year.
The “Lightning Round”:
I’m not much of a movie guy
Best vacation ever?
My family and I went to Arizona a few years ago and visited Sedona and the Grand Canyon. I love the desert – it’s so different from where I live. The kids enjoyed it, too, and luckily we didn’t run into any snakes or scorpions.
Last book I read?
“Tell My Sons: A Father’s Last Letters” by Lt. Col. Mark Weber
What I do for fun?
Living where I do, it’s impossible not to enjoy the outdoors. I play hockey regularly, but otherwise, anything I can do to be outside makes me happy.
Food I can’t live without?
Chipotle! There isn’t a Chipotle around where I live, so every time I travel or come down to Cincinnati, I have to go there.
Favorite TV show?
The Office, my favorite character is Dwight
I like a little bit of everything, but if I had to pick one, I’d say 80s country is my favorite genre.
