2024 Industrial Marketing Summit Educates and Builds Community
Industrial marketers face many unique challenges, one of which is small marketing teams. While these small teams are busy running day-to-day operations, they often miss learning and growth opportunities. Additionally, the opportunities for industrial marketers to learn and bring home new ideas are few and far between. That’s why the industrial marketing leaders at Gorilla 76, TREW Marketing and CADENAS PARTsolutions partnered to host the 2024 Industrial Marketing Summit this past January 31 to February 2.
Formerly part of Content Marketing World, the 2024 summit was held in Austin, TX and was a stand-alone event for the first time ever. “We asked attendees from the previous summit what they wanted to see in the future,” Adam Beck, Director of Marketing at CADENAS PARTsolutions, said. “They asked for more sessions that take a deeper dive into the real challenges of industrial marketers. The only way to deliver that was to create a stand-alone event that’s bigger and better than ever before.”
The event kicked off with Mexican martinis and classic Texas barbecue at the Cedar Door Patio Bar and Grill. Attendees were able to mingle with other industrial marketers and build a community. Melissa Geertz, conference attendee and marketer from Gray Solutions, said, “I’m not alone! Industrial marketers are usually small teams wearing many hats. So what an experience to meet over 200 new besties facing the same challenges! It’s inspiring to see how everyone is absolutely killing it in their own way.”
The following day started with a keynote from the hosting companies and a panel focusing on how to best utilize AI in your daily marketing.
“I’ve come away with strategies for integrating AI more into my work, elevating our content to better serve our customers, plus so much more! A huge shout-out to the speakers for their incredible depth of knowledge and for sharing it so generously,” Chadwick Conte, an attendee and industrial marketer at Peninsular Cylinder Company, posted online.
Attendees then had the opportunity to hear eight other presentations from some of the most innovative minds in industrial marketing.
Greg Mischio, the Founder and CEO at Winbound, had this to say of one of the sessions.
“…I moved on to MJ Smith’s presentation on the Transformative Power of Product Marketing. MJ is one of those people I consider a natural talent at this marketing stuff. The presentation was incredible, but what amazed me most wasn’t any AI-inspired wizardry or complex algorithm that MJ might have cooked up.
No, what grabbed me is the story she told about her first job. Her company wanted to create a new product that combined two of its technologies. So MJ went out and…you guessed it…talked to customers. A lot of customers.
She found the one pain point they had in common, and developed a product to address it. The product achieved considerable success, and she’s followed that blueprint ever since.”
Another attendee, Chelsea Trevino, noted Mary Keough’s session as one of her main takeaways from the event. “OWN A NUMBER! If marketing is seen only as an activity generator, leadership doesn’t care about you. Get your marketing out of the activity generator rut by implementing a plan and owning a number.”
The event concluded with in-depth workshops where attendees could interact with each other and engage with the experts.
“What a fun event. I walked into this week feeling like I could kick down a door,” Grace Wright, speaker and workshop host from Gorilla 76, commented. This sentiment was echoed by all who attended.
